This was one of the most productive yet relaxing and fun weekends we have had in so long!! Friday night after work we went straight into business mode and cleared out the guest room, painted the ceiling, crown molding, and primed the walls. Saturday we woke up at 8:30 (very unlike us) and got straight to it, painted the walls in the guest bedroom and repainted the too blue office. The office trim needed a bit of touching up after being repainted, and we painted the baseboards before moving all the furniture back in. We finished both rooms (except for window and door trim, which we didn’t have time for) by 7 pm. My friend Cassie was visiting for the weekend so she helped us finish the trim and not murder each other after a long, hard day.
I’ve said it before, but it really is amazing what a coat of paint will do. Now that the walls throughout the house are all painted (minus the kitchen which will soon be demoed and the bathrooms which are TBD) it really feels more like our very own house.
Here’s the guest room before:
I must say, repainting the office was definitely the right decision, even though it was a bit of a pain. Rhythmic blue was a lovely color, but it was just too dark for that small room and didn’t flow at all with the rest of the house.
It’s hard to tell from the light in the picture, but Country Mist is a very light blue with shades of grey and green. It is just what we wanted, not too dark, not too “baby boy’s room” blue.
Sunday was the exact opposite of Saturday in every way possible. We slept in, ate breakfast at East Beach Grill with friends, went to the beach for almost 4 hours, hiked to the most amazing spot ever to watch the sunset, and then had a raclette party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raclette) and consumed about 1 pound per person of cheesy goodness.
Monday it was back to business! No rest for the weary. Now that the office walls are painted we can hang up fun things!
