Oh my. Where to even begin.
After last night we were feeling slightly dejected, but damnitall we have a housewarming party in less than a month, the show must go on. So we jumped right back into it today, painted the window trim in the living room and Chris did some demo outside and cleaned up trash that the previous owners had so sweetly left behind. We were moving right along.
And then it happened. I was walking outside the laundry room with a basket of clean laundry when I heard Chris yelling (with panic in his voice) “Sierra!”. Now, Chris does not call me Sierra. Ever. So right away I know something is wrong.
While trying to pull the hose from down from the back yard, it had somehow managed to wrap itself around a can of paint (and not just any can of paint, but the SHITTY trim paint that I just blogged about yesterday!) and as fate would have it, the lid was not fastened securely to the can. I think you can figure out what happened next.
We went through a large pile of rags and a roll of paper towels before we finally managed to get the puddle of paint wiped up and had only a large white stain left behind on the deck and stairs. So we decided to hose it off. I guess we had no choice, but this is really where things went from bad to worse. A good deal of paint washed away after quite a bit of spraying so I moved on to the stairs. And that’s when I saw my basket of clean laundry sitting at the base of the staircase, covered in muddy paint water.
And then, I noticed that the paint water that was running down our very, very long driveway was staining the concrete white.
Fortunately, most of the stain came up when we sprayed it with the hose. I also thought it would be a good idea to get Chris with the hose, I mean, I know it was an accident but I was the one cleaning up the mess so really it seemed only fair. 🙂
I think we’ll be taking a break from renovations for the rest of the weekend.
