I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Eve. So much pressure to do something fun every year, and then the next year you have to top what you did the previous year. Each year, the pressure mounts!
I’m such a nerd, leave it to me to get stressed out over partying.
I do love the New Year though, because it’s a fresh start, a clean slate, a chance to start over. Any shitty things that happened last year are magically washed away and everyone has a chance to begin anew. So much optimism in an otherwise pessimistic world.
I like to have three resolutions each year.
1) To say I want to lose weight is cliché and not specific enough to measure success or failure. So instead I’m going to say that I want to sign up for Nite Moves and be able to run an entire 5k by the end of the season, which ends in September. I already bought a new pair of running shoes! That part was fun. Chris and I went to the Camarillo Outlets on a rainy day with a 4 month old…but that’s another story… Chris and I are going to start walking on weekends and in a couple of months we’ll ease ourselves into C25K.
2) Relax more & let the little things go. Because I can’t take xanax while breastfeeding, I’ve decided to indulge in a glass of white wine (I think I’m allergic to red, it gives me head and stomach ache) at least once a week to help me relax. The goal is not to get drunkety drunk, because we all know how that ends for me. Sometimes singing kareokee off key and at the tops of my lungs, always throwing up for at least 24 hours.
3) Post to Everything is Coming Up Roses regularly. I really enjoy writing, it’s something just for me. Since most everything I do all day long is for Emmett, this is a really nice change. And it’s cheaper than finding a new therapist.
